Project Motivation

​

The ambition and inspiration for this project derives from the creators love of the Great Lakes. Growing up on and near the Great Lakes, they were allowed the privilege to see first hand how powerful but magnificent these natural wonders can be. Throughout their time studying and understanding coastal engineering they found how storms can be a legitimate hazard to coastal communities and should be properly accounted for.

Project Objectives

 

The main objective on this project was to make storm calculations easier for the user. That way they can better understand the relationships between surge height, wind speed, wind direction, and fetch. An additional objective was to give the user the ability to compare coastal cities, either under the same storm conditions or under completely different conditions.

Jonah and Spencer are both students at the University of Wisconsin- Madison double majoring in Geological Engineering and Geoscience.
